Another day at the grindstone, or, more
aptly, the sanding machine. Here is Ian
preparing for the day ahead.
Thought I would share this pic with
you of the vacuum cleaner attached to the sanding machine.
This is on the boat next to us in the
paint shed. It is having a major overhaul.
And at 14m long there is way more hull to work on. Ian is ever so thankful Njord is only 9m long
and says the next one will be no more 5m!!
Today we both spent many hours
sanding, by hand, the places the machine cannot reach. At least I got a break
after lunch to do a food/booze run to Lidl.
I was out of rose wine, the rum was almost done, and we needed
milk. I came home with those three items
plus shoulder ham which was on special, raisins, walnuts, red pepper, broccoli,
and dishwashing detergent. Which all
cost way less than the wine and rum!
Back to sanding – Ian demonstrating the
sanding machine but for us it is on the floor not high up on a crane!
No idea what those white marks are – dust in the air?
By the end of the afternoon all of
the sanding was done, even the rusty bits where things have been welded on, and
Ian started the painting process.
At last we are getting somewhere. After only two days my knees are sore, my
hips are sore and my fingers are sore. Ian has had way more physical abuse for 8 days
– no wonder he looks 10 years older.
