Monday 29th February
Another long day. After a good night’s sleep Ian started work at 8.00 today. By lunch time he decided the end of the long hard slog was in sight and he expected to apply the first coat of primer at the end of the day.

Here he is about to start work after
lunch
Well, what can I say!
With rain forecast for the next few
days I wanted to get all the shopping done today so I don’t have to cycle to
the shops in the rain. Cycling in a
temperature of 2C in the sun is one thing, but 2C in the rain is definitely to
be avoided if at all possible. I ended
up going to the supermarket 3 times, the first time for booze supplies (a box
of wine, bottle of rum, coke, water and milk) which is as much as the panniers
plus backpack can carry, the second time for the food supplies, and the third
time because I forgot to get coffee!
At the end of the afternoon I got the
call from Ian to come and clean. This
was a major clean to remove all dust, first sweeping up all the grit and dust
off the floor, then blowing all the dust off the hull with a high pressure
hose, then vacuuming. At that stage my
job was done, Ian wiped the hull down with a special product, and finally
painted. He finished at 9.30.
He isn't quite done with the shitty work yet, he still has to do the patches under the props, and the fiddly bits inside the bow thruster tube, rudder inspection coffer, echo sounder, toilet outlet, etc.
Lamb burgers for dinner tonight, with
boiled new potatoes, garlic mushrooms, Brussels sprouts and carrots. Delish!
Sounds like you're staying in great shape with your shopping ventures! What difficult work for Ian--all for the best I know. Yum on dinner! :)
