Yesterday was Good Friday, but you
would never have guessed it – it was just an ordinary working day here. We were so surprised. It poured with rain all morning, and all
night too for that matter. There is
something rather comforting about lying in bed on a boat listening to the rain
pattering onto the deck just a few feet above.
It was not particularly cold, about
7.5 degs in the early morning. In the
afternoon the sun came out and it got really warm, about 17!
The public spaces are beginning to
fill with containers of flowers.
Every shop (well, OK, not every shop
but an awful lot) have racks outside with pots of flowers for sale.
Since the bombings on Tuesday the
museum over the canal from us has changed its flag from the yellow Flanders
flag to this Peace flag
flying at half mast.
Ian was wondering if we should be
flying our courtesy flag at half mast but none of the other boats are doing so.
This afternoon Ian went to help one
of the young chaps we met at boatyard.
He bought a huge barge in Holland a few months ago, sailed it here in November - now that must have been cold. Now he has it at the boatyard where he is working on his "project" (I'm awfully glad Ian has not taken on such a big project!). He
is now replacing the coach roof and that requires some welding so Ian is giving
him a hand.
Look what Ian’s hands look like after
the work he has been doing for the last 4 weeks!
I spent the whole afternoon trying to
sort out music playlists. We have a
folder on the computer with thousands of songs and they needed sorting. It is
going to take hours.
