A very unexciting but tiring day –
sanding, sanding, sanding. Nothing but
sanding for Ian, I got to do a bit of stainless steel polishing as well.
Unfortunately, first thing this
morning the paint was still too fresh to sand by machine so we started on the
fiddly bits that have to be done by hand.
That took all morning and this afternoon Ian got going with the sanding
machine attached to the vacuum cleaner.
Thijs was also sanding with a vacuum attachment and at that stage I was
cleaning up inside our boat with the serious 44 gallon drum sized vacuum
cleaner with 3 motors, a
voracious beast that will suck up any tool within a couple of metres – and it screams like a banshee on heat! Oh, and the music was going full blast. Bloody hell, it was noisy in there. But we have had worse a few days ago there
were 3 sanding machines going, plus their vacuum cleaners, and the voracious beast, and
Ian was using a tiny pneumatic drill to attack rust in awkward corners which sounds like
a dentist’s drill. Rather hard on the
ears.
Klaas didn’t have any paintball
activities today so he was helping Thijs.
At last I managed to get a pic of Klaas, here he is with Thijs and Ian
in the background.
Last night put the engine back
together again. It has been in pieces
since last year when he installed the new exhaust system. We don’t know if it runs sweetly yet but I
guess we will find out when the boat goes in the water.
We have had some magnificent sunsets
the last few days
