Another day moored above the Maladrerie lock

Seeing we are still in the same place I do not have a whole lot to say, but the camera took me for a walk, yesterday to Clamecy by bike (3 kms each way) and today to Chevroches by foot (2 kms each way).
Ian did some more grinding, filling, painting, etc, and this afternoon we watched the Monaco Grand Prix.
A story in photos.
Yesterday in Clamecy:
The small harbour in Clamecy

An old wash house, close to the harbour, not quite as it used to be

The entrance to the lock with an monument to Jean Rouvet who was influential in pioneering the flottage in the 16th century.

A monument to the "flotteur" on the Pont de Bethlehem.  Not sure about the head gear.

A beautiful hotel boat. The British captain told Ian that the boat is just 5cm narrower than the lock, not even enough room to use fenders.  Inch perfect!

Chavroches

This is the road past the church: Hell Road.  Ummm, is that ironic or what?

No information about this church whatsoever.  But not a groined vault, flying butress or rose window in sight, so I'm guessing 11th century or earlier.

The view from the upper town of Chevroches down to the canal...

...and across the roof tops of the village
