 The Petit Saone

Woke up to pouring rain, but it was a lot warmer than the last few days.  We set off at 8.15, again heading upstream against a strong current.  Ian steered from the interior steering position, which is dry and warm but the windows do tend to fog up and restrict visibility.

The rain cleared up at midday and soon after we stopped at Auxonne on a shopping mission, we are running out of fresh veg, other perishables and wine.  An hour and 30 minutes later we were on our way again, now going up the Petit Saone which is narrower but also has a stronger current flowing against us.

At last we turned off the river onto the Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne.  What a mouthful. It used to be called the Marne au Saone canal which makes more sense, to me, and doesn't take so long to type!

First thing we encountered was a whole lot more weed growing in the water.  I hope this is not a portend of what is to come.  We collected a telecommand at the first lock because from now on the locks are automatic, at our command.  Love it
