 Crossing the summit

33km, 24 locks and a 4.8 km long tunnel, 8 hours

The weather was great today, a bit chilly to start but nothing exciting, no wind, no rain, not too cold.  We passed another commercial barge and a yacht.

With our telecommand all ran smoothly for 5 locks and then we encountered a problem.  But before I could place a call to the central command point a lockie arrived to take us through the next 2 locks that are having new electrical systems installed. At the summit we traversed a 4.8 km long tunnel

Approaching the tunnel

Exiting the tunnel
We got held up again at the next lock which just refused to cooperate and had to call for assistance.  The lockie arrived, opened doors, pressed switches, still the same problem.  He inspected the electronic posts at the canal gates, pressed switches, no go.  He scratched his head, and hey presto found a solution.  Wish I'd taken a pic of him, he looked a bit like a nutty professor.

Anyway, 8 hours after leaving Cusey we arrived at the Port de Plaisance below Langres.  For 9 euros we get a berth for the night, water and electricity.  Deal!
