Peronne

Well, so much for weather reports.  It was supposed to be rainy and windy today but it was gloriously sunny.
However, Ian did need a day with electricity to finalise the battery installation so it was not a day wasted.  Except it was, because one of the components (circuit board) appears to be faulty (i.e. dead) so he could not get it up and running.  I will not repeat the words I heard!
He has contacted the supplier and we await their reply.
While all that was going on I took my camera for a walk.
There are a number of picturesque lakes around the town

There are still ramparts and sections of the old town walls

Another lake; this one has been tamed for pleasure pursuits.

The old castle is now a museum dedicated to WW1

The town square

A derelict water mill across the Somme River.
We leave here tomorrow, another long 48 km slog, and Mr Weatherman tells us is going to be 3o, feels like -1o, at 9.00 tomorrow morning.  I hope he is wrong again.
