Montherme to Revin

17th May
18 kms, 4 locks
It was another stinking hot day, already 20C when we left Montherme at 9.
This is reputedly one of the most  beautiful sections of the Meuse.  Unfortunately our little camera does not do it justice, so here is just a flavour.

OK, this is not a pretty picture, we found it interesting that at every barrage (there is one next to each lock) there was major work going on - anything to the floods year?

To put it into perspective: 2 cruisers with the magnificent Ardennes hills behind them

This is the Halte at Laifour, no services I believe, but it sure looks nice

Waiting at a lock for a cruiser coming in the opposite direction

Aaaah
We are seeing quite a lot of cruisers now, Belgian, Dutch and German.  Again we met one (Dutch, as usual) in a particularly narrow bit who didn’t want to get close to the side and thought he should be allowed to navigate in the middle of the canal.  Selfish b……
Just after I took this photo the selfish Dutch cruiser appeared
We arrived at the beautiful port de plaisance in Revin at noon.

This is a great place to stop. It is in an off-shoot of the canal with two supermarkets within 5 minute’s walk.  It cost us €9 for the night, which includes water, electricity, showers, washing machine and dryer.  That’s a pretty good deal.
In the afternoon the temperature reached 34 degrees.  I was totally out of sorts; I just can’t deal with this heat.  There was a slight breeze and we dug out the side screen for our bimini and sat on the aft deck.

It was substantially cooler than the interior which was rather like sitting in a furnace.  And we didn’t have 21 camper vans staring at us.  There are 5 other cruisers here, all very friendly and chatty.

Thank goodness there is rain forecast for tomorrow.
