Jussy to Chauny

22 km 10 locks

Leaving Jussy this morning, it was rather cloudy but fine and calm.  It took us 4 hours to cover the 22kms and 10 locks, all going “downhill” to Chauny. We have now left the delightful Canal de Saint Quentin behind us.  

Below the lock at Chauny the canal becomes the Canal Lateral de l'Oise.

We have tied up in the Porte de Plaisance which costs €7/night for our boat, including water and electricity, and it has showers (€2) and a laundry (€3 for the washing machine and €3 for the dryer).  What a pleasure to have the laundry just a few steps away from the boat.

My post is a day late because last night we were invited to another boat, Freya owned by Germans Gerd and Dagmar, for after dinner drinks - and didn't get home till 1.30!  Needless to say it was a very pleasant evening.
