Saint Leu to Jaux

38.5 kms, 3 locks, 5.5 hours

It started raining during the night and rained all morning, so Ian drove from inside

A grey bad-viz day

Pont-Sainte-Maxence looks like an interesting town

Pont-Saint-Maxence: we didn't see any decent mooring there.  Pity
.
A chateau - yet another chateau

Approaching the marina at Jaux
Here we are 7th from the right
Not such an interesting day today.  We woke to pouring rain and left the mooring at 8.45 with the temperature at 16 degrees in a steady drizzle so Ian chose to drive from inside.  We traversed 3 locks, all ready and waiting for us so no delays.  The river is much wider and less interesting on this stretch, but perhaps if the sun had been shining we would have got a different impression.  Always on the look-out for possible quays/pontoons to stop at, we did not see one single one, so we stopped at the Port de Plaisance in Jaux.  Not a particularly good experience, the pontoons are rotten and very dirty and the rate is €12 per night (but that does include water and electricity).  Showers are €2.50 per person (no limit to the amount of water you use).  So it has cost us €17 - we paid €26 at the Arsenal in Paris, including water, electricity and showers.  There is a tiny town, no bakery.  What, no bakery - but we are in France, how can that be!
